Winning With Innotas

Who: The City of Roseville, Ca.

What: InfoWorld 2007 Digital Government Achievement Awards

Why: The City of Roseville, CA has been recognized by InfoWorld for its achievements in using technology to create a safe, revitalized, and economically vibrant community through strategic technology initiatives. A number of vendors are providing the technology behind these initiatives, but the key to seeing them through successfully is CIO Thomas J. Freeman’s ability to manage these projects efficiently and effectively. That’s where Innotas comes in, Freeman says.

Among the technology initiatives are a WiFi project that will serve both citizens and the police and fire-fighting forces; a new customer care system to improve the local government’s ability to learn about and address citizens’ concerns; and an Intelligent Transportation System to expedite the movement of people and goods throughout the City.

Thanks to Innotas’ on–demand PPM technology, the City has been able to implement its Technology Governance Process for managing its multiple initiatives six months ahead of schedule. Now, the City has real–time visibility into and control over the 180+ IT projects on its calendar. It can both track the progress of and accountability for each IT project, and intelligently redirect IT resources so that priority is given to the initiatives that are most closely aligned with the City’s goals for safety, enhanced transportation, revitalization, and economic vitality.

"With a full service City that includes Electric, Environmental, Police, Fire, Planning Administrative Services, and Public Works, you need to have a collaborative environment that looks to innovation, collaboration and basically teamwork to be effective," says Freeman. Innotas PPM is key in enabling these capabilities for the City of Roseville.

At the same time, the use of an on–demand PPM solution rather than an on–premise installation has saved the City approximately one half million dollars in hardware and setup costs.

Innotas congratulates Thomas J. Freeman and the City of Roseville’s entire IT team for the hard work that has earned it this prestigious award.
